BAE Systems Maritime Services supports and maintains the majority of the Royal Navy’s ships, as well as innovating for this and other customers around the world. This exciting role in the Communications team will allow you to work closely with a diverse group of stakeholders from customers and employees to media, honing your already growing communications skills.

Your main responsibilities as a Communications Advisor will involve:

Proactively planning and implementing a variety of external and internal communication activities to support the delivery of the Maritime Services business strategy and the BAE System’s wider Maritime sector as appropriate

Supporting the planning and delivery of public relations activities for promotion of our business activities

Innovative management of digital channels including our website and social media, and providing expertise on digital channels including Social Media, seizing opportunities to promote the business

Providing support in managing crisis communications

Supporting the Senior Communications Manager to develop and deliver the external and internal communications agenda for Maritime Services.

Supporting reputation management activities internally and externally

Your skills and qualifications as a Communications Advisor:


External communications experience

Digital and Social Media communications knowledge and experience

Communication campaign planning experience

Understanding of effective digital communications practices and channels

Experience of liaising with journalists and working in a PR/Media role

Research and evaluation experience


Customer/client support experience within internal communications

Internal communications experience

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and develop effective relationships across all areas of the business. You must have a professional and flexible approach to work, with a desire and willingness to learn and develop. In addition the ability to work effectively, as part of a team and independently when required.
