Would you like to work within an interesting role supporting the Operations Sector at BAE Systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Ships Electrical Fitter at our site in Portsmouth.
Based in HM Naval base Portsmouth (PNB), BAE Systems. A ship Electrical fitter will work with in the operations department, working within Workshop facilities or afloat areas for repair and the manufacture of projects for our Ministry of Defence and other military and commercial customers.
This role will provide you with working as part of team with varied across the role working on different vessels. You may have the opportunity in the future to move into management planning.
Your main responsibilities as a Ships Electrical Fitter will involve:
Carrying out a Trade Specific Take 5 plus 5 dynamic risk assessment before every task.
Abiding by all risk assessments, BAE polices and the law.
Ensuring all tools and equipment that are used are suitable, fit for purpose and in date for any inspection required.
Attending all training courses, TBT and briefings where possible.
Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, overhaul and repair on a variety of electrical equipment machinery and systems.
Removal, overhaul, repair, Installation and testing of Electrical equipment, machinery and systems.
Ensuring all tools and equipment being used are suitable and in date for any inspection required.
Developing and maintain positive relationships with customers, managing their expectations and needs.
Reporting all accidents, incidents and near misses via the appropriate reporting tool.
Have a Business issued mobile phone to unsure full mobile working capability.
Recognised apprenticeship or industry / naval equivalent qualifications within the Electrical sector
Good understanding of safe systems of work including electrical work, confined spaces, working at height and Royal Navy specific safety operations
Must have a deep understanding of electrical work and be able to carry out various techniques used in a ship repair and support industry
Candidates must be flexible to undertake tasks across any trade disciplines as required
Must be prepared to work in a team to provide high quality service to meet the customer expectations
Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and associated equipment is required
You must have the ability to work as part of an integral team as awell as work independently. You will possess excellent communication skills both verbally and written with the ability to use electronic devices.
