Would you like an exciting and critical role within the Submarine business area? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Accountant at our site in Barrow.


As a Senior Accountant, you will be building strong professional relationship with Project Managers / budget holders whilst integrating into the existing finance team and applying an attitude of continuous improvement to existing processes& procedures. Establishing & enforcing a strong culture of Governance& Controls with the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines, you will have strong involvement in the monthly management reporting, forecasting and budget setting processes.


This role will provide you with visibility of how the business operates; an insight into non-financial departments, regular exposure to other areas of the business. You will have real responsibility in a genuinely interesting business.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Accountant will involve:


Preparing information for monthly reporting cycle and annual budget setting.


Building relationships at all levels, influencing and challenging with finance rationale


Presenting financial information to non-financial managers.


Providing accurate financial information to support management decision making.


Detailed forecasting and scenario modelling

Your skills and qualifications:


Essential skills:

Qualified accountant


Post qualification experience


Desirable skill

Demonstrable experience on large scale complex projects or working groups


Experience in a business organisation


SAP Experience would be advantageous

You will have strong Communication skills with a Collaborative style and a passion for promoting financial awareness in audiences that will not be fully versed in Finance ensuring that this is at the forefront of decision making.

Maritime – Submarines

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.

Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.
