Systems Engineer

We are looking for an individual to join the team here at Portsdown Technology Park. You will be joining a small team of systems professionals where you will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of a broad base of integration tools and services and their associated networks.

Your Main Responsibilities as a Systems Engineer are:


This role will provide you with a varied and interesting workload; every day will provide a different challenge. You will get to use various technologies across projects that will vary in lifecycle for a multitude of applications. You could be responsible for: Development of Synthetic Environment interface devices, toolset training, and maintenance of the toolset deployed across the integration labs (including administration support, backup, etc.), Configuration Management of the deployed toolset or you could find yourself working within a virtual machine environment using VMware and vSphere.


Your skills and qualifications:


We are happy to look at individuals from various backgrounds; however it is essential that you have a solid understanding of software design and development within either a Windows or Linux environment. Whilst we predominately use C#, if you have worked in Ada, C, C++ or scripted in Java, PHP, Ruby, Perl or Python, we would like to hear from you.


In addition to your basic understanding of IP networks (protocols, switching & routing). This could have been gained within Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, HP, or NEC network environments.

We will also need you to have exposure to In addition, previous experience of integration within a network and or systems engineering environment would be highly beneficial as would exposure to Wireshark. CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA or JNCP certifications would also be highly desirable.

You will have excellent communication and all round stakeholder management skills with the ability to build good working relations at all levels whilst being able to push back where appropriate. A proactive attitude with a keen eye for detail is essential to the success of this role.
