Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2019 and beyond, we are currently seeking a number of experienced Programme Managers to join HSBC Technology.

Brief overview of the business areas

Equities Technology is a global department with teams in London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Pune – supporting businesses covering Cash Equities, Electronic Trading, Delta One and Flow Trading, Equity Derivatives, Prime Finance, and Futures. The organization is rapidly transforming both its people structure and ways of working to better align with our business and increase the speed and quality of delivery. We are adopting a DevOps model driving agile delivery and building a strong product ownership group.

What you will be doing;
  • Global Banking & Markets’ Service Sustainability Programme (GBM SSP) is a multi-year programme primarily around evergreening the GBM technology estate – encompassing both hardware and software - to ensure that the technology stack is fully supported minimising any cyber risk.
  • The GBM Equities SSP Programme Manager role will be responsible for all aspects of the programme management – from change initiation, design and delivery and accountable for successful delivery of the programme and ensuring benefits realisation
  • The role will report directly to the Equities Portfolio Manager
  • The role holder will represent Equities on SSP globally and be supported by SSP Leads and ITSOs within the Sub Asset Classes (Core Cash, Delta 1, Electronic, Equity Derivatives, Prime Finance and Futures).
  • The role holder will need to work closely with the Equities Architecture function and the Equities Production and Risk and Control functions to ensure that the technology estate is moving towards the future state whilst effectively remediating service sustainability and evergreening risk.
  • Primary liaison for GBM Equities on Service Sustainability facing off to the Global Head of Equities, Equities Businesses and the GBM SSP central programme.
  • Works closely with the Equities Sub Asset Class Heads and Sub Asset Class SSP Leads to develop effective and strategic remediation plans and work through execution of these plans.
  • Manage programme strategy and the programme approach across a series of projects or component activities, building stakeholder buy-in around plans, commitments and changes
  • Continually seeks to promote innovate solutions to service sustainability and evergreening problems through technology – pushing the boundaries to embrace more strategic innovative change where applicable
  • Works with the stakeholders of the programme to agree priorities and roadmap for technology and change delivery that enable moving the technology estate towards the future state strategic architecture.
  • Delivery, governance & reporting to stakeholders including the Product owner in the business, leadership of a service line or Product within Technology.
  • Drives the use of the prevailing methodologies within Technology teams (e.g. Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean)
  • Ensure Technology programmes align to HSBC strategies and contribute to towards achieving strategic aims
  • Ensuring that all Technology practices and associated tools are being adopted and adhered to within the Programme
  • Manage programme budgets, including headcount and software delivery capitalisation
  • Defines and implements an effective method for reporting status on the data using the primary tools for evergreening (EIM, Clarity, Helios etc).
  • Manage negotiation with and management of, and service agreement monitoring of third party contracts with Technology suppliers
  • Manage the development and promotion of the technology portfolio and project management practices
  • Work across business and technology to establish effective controls, procedures and quality assurance processes for the product in line with the Business Transformation Framework and HSBC Risk and Controls framework
  • Manage the reporting of progress, issues, dependencies and risks to committees and make recommendations to influence decision making in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realisation.
  • Promote the value of challenging the status quo, seeking to improve ways of working and having a forward-thinking mind-set, in line with the Group’s Values and Strategy
