Senior Finance Manager

The finance function at BAE Systems prides its ability to play an important role in challenging and driving business performance through the provision of sound financial business acumen.

We are recruiting to fill a number of key finance roles, predominantly based around the Lancashire sites of Warton, Samlesbury and Preston but with some requirements for mobility.

The roles will currently have available cover support to key programmes, business partnering within internal Shared Services delivery areas and financial planning, reporting and analysis.Candidates will be recruited in a joint process, and those successful will be allocated based on the best fit through the process.

These roles will be the start of the journey; to develop our finance leaders of the future we leverage opportunities through the breath of products/businesses and offer a range of finance roles required to develop both the individual and the strength within the function.

As Senior Finance Manager, leading your team, you will be responsible for delivering a range of the key components including business partnering within the delivery teams and close work with external customers, and internal business partnering, ensuring the management of cost base and delivery of shared service activities.These will include; working with and challenging bids, production of Contract Status Reports, challenge to Estimates at Completion, involvement in the risk management process, support to commercial opportunities, cash forecasting as well as month end reporting and business planning.

Whilst elements of the role are routine, the balance is varied and is often urgent so the ability to motivate the team and deliver to deadlines is essential.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Finance Manager will involve:

Leadership of the finance, as well as developing leadership skills across the Enterprise

Acting as a trusted business partner working effectively across functions and with staff at all levels providing commercially astute advice and guidance

Building and managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders across the project teams and the wider business

Close work with the customer community to manage and communicate the financial position of the contracts and bid

Co-ordinating the preparation of the in-year budget and Integrated Business Plan (IBP) for the contracts including coordination of the inputs from the IPT and review/challenge with the management team

Challenge, review and planning of new business – working with the teams to ensure we are positioned to grow the order book with value adding work

Managing of the overall contract financials - from the CSR and Sales and Margin Trading Plan through to the Balance Sheet and risks and opportunities

Delivering effective cash management - accurate forecasting and delivery of cash opportunities

Supporting the business in managing foreign currency risk exposures and working with key stakeholders to identify appropriate solutions

Providing timely and accurate management information for both internal and external use, this will include internal reporting for the Project team through to provision of information to the external auditors (Deloitte)

Maintaining and improving the control environment within your project area

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential skills:

    A professional qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)

      Experience of people management is required

        Ability to problem solve and deliver business orientated solutions to financial and customer issues

        Desirable skills:

          A knowledge of project and financial accounting
