Manufacturing Support Engineer
Would you like to contribute to the development of manufacturing processes within high-profile weapons projects? We currently have a vacancy for a Manufacturing Support Engineer at our site in Barrow-In-Furness.
As a Manufacturing Support Engineer, you will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. The role will be working with design and production staff to develop Manufacturing Engineering processes, systems and controls to support effective product build whilst maintaining all aspects of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your knowledge within an exciting sector, across a range of international projects. You will also have the chance to support the whole lifecycle of product manufacturing.
Your main responsibilities as a Manufacturing Support Engineer will involve:
To represent Operations at Enquiry and Bid meetings
Able to read and understand contract documentation to determine scope of work packages
Communicate with relevant stakeholders to update and/or gather information required to progress Manufacturing Engineering activities/actions
Provide structure and guidance of Manufacturing Engineering processes and procedures to provide consistency and repeatability
Create and maintain systems to monitor and report on Manufacturing Engineering activities to show progress against project plans, including risk and opportunities
Support non-technical change management, i.e. legislation, company processes and policies and improvement activity
Develop and maintain KPI’s with inputs from Manufacturing Engineers
Create and maintain systems to ensure all Manufacturing Engineering documentation is kept under configuration control and accessible to those who need access
Your skills and qualifications as a Manufacturing Engineer:
Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business Management or relevant discipline
Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment (Office or Shop Floor)
Creating and maintaining systems to capture and track activities
Able to produce reports and KPIs
Strong MS office toolset skills – Excel intermediate level
High level of attention to detail
Ability to read and understand contractual information and report
Understanding of Teamcenter and Sharepoint (Workspace)
An understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques
Awareness of current industry legislation PUWER, LOLER etc.

You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for continuous improvement. You will also have the ability to work from technical designs to determine and implement the best method of manufacture. You must be willing to travel as there may be a requirement for you to travel outside of the UK a couple of times a year.
