Trainee Product Development Engineer

Would you like to play a key role in the design and development of Artillery, Mortar, Medium Calibre and Warhead products? We currently have a vacancy for a Trainee Product Development Engineer at our site in Glascoed.

As a Trainee Product Development Engineer, you will be involved all levels of the product lifecycle; concepts, development, testing, qualification, production and in service support.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on a project that will support with the future of the business and working on new capabilities, while also being committed to training and development.

Your main responsibilities as a Trainee Product Development Engineer will involve:

Assisting product design and system engineering activities for new products

Assisting in the configuration management of the product design definitions

Involvement in process design, definition and critical evaluation

Assisting the coordination of product and process empirical testing and evaluation

Involvement in the development of safe systems of work

Safe conduct of engineering activities

Liaising with suppliers to ensure that development activities are completed to time and schedule

Contributing to Risk reviews

Working as part of an integrated project team, including regular engagement with project management, procurement (supply chain) and operations.

Your skills and qualifications:
Essential:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

or

Apprenticeship and HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

A good understanding of manufacturing techniques and assembly processes

Ability to interpret Technical Drawings

IT literate, with good communication and technical report writing skills

Desirable:

Experience with trials, tests and evaluation of products or processes

Experience in the development and industrialisation of products and processes in the Engineering industry

Familiarity with the Life Cycle Management (LCM) process

A working knowledge of Systems Engineering and Engineering design would be an advantage

An understanding of project/risk management
