Procurement Leader

Would you like to play a key role in the Submarine Supply Chain? We currently have vacancies for Procurement Leader's at our site in Frimley.

As a Procurement Leader, you will be responsible for the delivery of the Submarines unit Supply Chain requirements, ensuring materials and services are provided within budget, to schedule and in full compliance with the technical and quality requirements.

This role will provide you with a challenging & evolving environment where no days are the same; you will have regular interaction with suppliers to drive delivery performance. You will learn new skills and gain exposure to many different facets of the Submarine business.

Your main responsibilities as a Procurement Leader will involve:

Manage own contracts in accordance with all the Supply Chain processes and procedures

Maintain the required levels of reporting across your team associated with:

  • progress in Development and Production phases
  • cost management
  • spend management
  • Supplier Performance (SPR)
  • schedule delivery performance of data and hardware

Lead all aspects of Supplier Management including negotiation of contracts, conducting CSRs, performance improvements and supplier development activities

Maintenance and creation of Purchase Orders in SAP

Maintenance and creation of Teamcenter chronicles and workflows

Facilitate and/or lead the Lifecycle management requirements associated with the work package and that of the team.

Be accountable for all related Supply Chain activity in line with area of responsibility

In time, lead, develop and motivate assigned personnel to ensure they are capable of delivering and exceeding their accountabilities.

In time, manage team performances via Performance management and be responsible for the ongoing training of all team members

There is an expectation for you to visit supplier sites

Your skills and qualifications:

Good people management skills to ensure supply chain requires are understood and supported through the interaction with other functions, e.g. engineering, QA

Have the ability to interpret Supplier performance metrics and to work with suppliers to address performance shortfalls

Good problem solving within continuous improvement activity

A good knowledge of all financial aspects of the role from cost accountant management reviews, Cost Forecasting through to value for money for the equipment being procured and understanding what actions need to be taken if performance in these areas is not meeting the desired standard

Major subcontract management experience

What we're looking for in you:

Understanding of supplier performance reviews and cost forecasting

Proven negotiating skills with subcontractors and senior stakeholders

Familiarisation with MRP/ERP system such as SAP or Oracle

Management and Leadership skills

Ability to operate at any level with our or a supplier’s business

Complex Systems and Support:

Complex Systems and Support (CS&S) is part of BAE Systems Submarines. We predominantly supply to the UK MoD but with smaller derivative work done in support of international Customers.
