Would you like to gain in house experience within the UK’s 9th largest pension scheme? We currently have a vacancy for a Pensions Actuary at our Head Office function in Farnborough.

This is a specialist actuarial role within the Corporate Pensions team, reporting to one of the Corporate Pensions Actuaries. You will provide support, as appropriate, on all actuarial or financial matters relating to the Company’s pension schemes and work closely with colleagues in Group Pensions, Group Finance, the in-house investment management team, HR and external advisers/service providers.

This role will enable you to be part of the expansion of a leading pensions team. You will be given the opportunity to develop your experience by working on a wide range of projects covering various aspects of pensions provision.

Scheme specific training in post will be provided and study support will be available to candidates finalising their FIA actuarial qualification.

Your main responsibilities as a Pensions Actuary will involve:

Producing management information for the Company on the finances of the pension schemes using an external valuation system

Management of the accounting year-end and mid-year processes, including co-ordination of external advisers, preparation of guidance to inform assumptions setting and responding to queries raised by auditors and advisers

Technical support for the longevity swap contracts

Production or checking of calculations and presentations to support the actuarial valuation process, or other project work as required

Reviewing and analysing scheme membership data checks performed by the Pensions Analyst

Providing general support for day-to-day activities and preparation for Trustee meetings, including communication materials

Working and liaising with external advisers and providers, in particular the scheme administrators and valuation system providers

Checking of work produced by the Pensions Analyst and providing ad-hoc on the job training, as required

Your skills and qualifications as a Pensions Actuary:

Actuarial experience working in the pensions industry

Qualified Pensions Actuary (FIA), or looking to qualify within the next 12 months

Proficient IT skills, including Excel and PowerPoint

Detail focused with a high degree of precision

Experience of working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders

Project management experience is desirable
