Would you like to be part of a team planning, delivering and monitoring procurement all the procurement activities, working on cutting edge technology for the Royal Navy? We currently have a vacancy for a Procurement Officer in Complex Systems and Support, BAES Submarines at our site in Frimley.

As a Procurement Officer you will play a pivotal role in the execution of the end-to-end procurement process i.e. delivery of information, products and services to quality, cost and schedule requirements.

This role will give you the opportunity to review supplier performance and communicate with and influence both internal and external stakeholders.We offer excellent training and career progression both within BAES Submarines and our other Business Units.

Your main responsibilities as a Procurement Officer:

Undertaking transactional procurement activity including; raising Request for Quotations, negotiating price and lead times, creating and managing purchase orders, expediting delivery and managing payments

Undertaking supplier assessment and due diligence activity to ensure the effective selection of suppliers to meet business needs.

Recording and report cost savings / cost avoidance.

Communicating with suppliers and internal / external stakeholders – resolving a wide variety of routine problems and quality issues, escalating complex / high impact issues when necessary

Applying awareness of risk and opportunity management to address low impact risks within contract management activity.

Updating systems relating to the procurement activity, in accordance with document management policy and process

Reviewing the performance of suppliers against quality, cost and delivery metrics to ensure Submarines' requirements are met and to secure improvements.

Completing cost-forecasting for equipment within individual's scope

Supporting the team in the preparation of material in support of major subcontract / transactional process activity

Your skills and qualifications as a Procurement Officer:

CIPS/ Previous procurement or project experience

Understanding of negotiation and supplier management techniques

Understanding of commercial aspects of contracts (with support)

Complex Systems and Support:

Complex Systems and Support (CS&S) is part of BAE Systems Submarines. We predominantly supply to the UK MoD but with smaller derivative work done in support of international Customers.

Our team is responsible for system design, build and/or procurement of the major electronic and mechanical systems on a submarine, as well as provision of test, integration and support services.

Innovation is central to our DNA and has produced the Common Combat System (CCS) to address the customer’s affordability, technology and capability challenges. It is based on commercial off-the-shelf technology (COTS) coupled with bespoke military hardware and software and is being progressively rolled-out into the UK's Submarine flotilla.
