Position Summary:

J.P. Morgan is looking for a highly seasoned Export Finance (“EF”) executive with a proven track record to serve as the Global Head of Export Finance Origination. The EF Origination Head will lead a global team of Export Finance transactors, responsible for optimizing coverage across key export industry verticals as well as export agency relationships. Working closely with the Trade Sales organization and Global Corporate Bank, the EF Origination Head will help identify opportunities and execute a strategy to elevate the franchise’s capabilities to a best in class product offering. In addition to bringing a wealth of knowledge on current market dynamics, the EF Origination Head must drive innovative solutions that adapt the franchise to evolving client needs and agency mandates.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a global transaction team of Export Finance professionals, optimizing coverage of Corporate Investment Bank and Commercial Bank clients as well as export agencies

  • Develop and execute origination strategy for the business, with a focus on lead arranger mandates, driving fee income and enabling distribution capacity

  • Identify and address any potential gaps in agency coverage, driving expansion of capabilities and securing any necessary product approvals

  • Work closely with agency contacts to identify new channels for export structures, including short and medium term opex to support CIB client working capital needs

  • Establish individual and team goals, with focus on key industries / agencies / emerging markets with robust pipeline tracking

  • Serve as a key point of escalation for external and internal relationships as it relates to the product

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of 3-year strategic sales and revenue plans for the product

  • Ownership of P&L planning and management for the business, with particular focus on fee based revenue

  • Working with the Trade Portfolio Management team to drive efficient use of capital, manage secondary activity and optimize portfolio returns

  • Responsible for hiring, staff planning and staff development of the global EF transaction team

  • Act as the senior structurer on key deals for the franchise

  • Ensure export finance product capabilities are well socialized within the broader Trade Sales and GCB organisations

  • Share market intelligence, such as key deals done away and/or developments that may be repeatable in other markets

Qualifications / Experience


Must Haves:


  • Must be able to demonstrate extensive experience of relevant transactional experience in Export Finance
  • Proven track record in originating and closing export finance transactions across multiple products, geographies and legal jurisdictions
  • Strong existing relationships with key export clients with ECA exposure and related underlying agencies
  • Excellent knowledge of emerging markets
  • Superior credit, risk and structuring skills
  • Dynamic, passionate and energetic, proven leader with ability to innovate, influence/drive change
  • Exceptional stakeholder relations with the ability to interpret and deliver complex messages and concepts concisely both internally and externally at all levels within the organization and across LOBs
  • Highest level of integrity and sound judgement
  • Flexibility for regular international travel
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, Masters or MBA degree is preferred
