Position Description: Serve as the chief regional approver for the Global Trade Engagement Committee and Portfolio Management Head for the EMEA region. Instil a culture of ownership and first line accountability for the Trade Business in the region through sound structuring, risk and return discipline. The Trade Regional Portfolio Head reports in the Global Trade Portfolio Management Head.
Chair the regional engagement committee that serves as the businesses key committee responsible for reviewing pricing, structure, appropriateness and risk appetite for all material transactions in the region.
Portfolio management head for the EMEA Region, responsible for leading quarterly reviews of exposure booked and managed out of the region
Represent and review on behalf of the region all Global Trade Engagement Committee meetings on transactions sponsored out of the region
Working with the Trade Risk organization and the Product leads, drive the build-out of a robust framework for assessing risk acceptance criteria and related approvals
Work with the Middle Office and Business Management functions to ensure we have best in class reporting to track changes in portfolio quality and anticipate potential problems
Proactively identify risks on exposure by monitoring credit and operational risks that may arise from sovereign, industry, market or other risk changes that may impact the portfolio
Participate and help set product strategy and engagement for problem facilities / exposure, working closely with product and regional heads
Review any new product approvals that impact the region or require regional roll-out. Provide input for product leads on key regional considerations, with critical influence on the regional
Participation in ad hoc strategic projects, relating to either new products, governance, regulatory or risk management related business initiatives
Able to demonstrate extensive relevant experience, with strong knowledge of corporate finance, credit and legal risk
- Extensive experience of direct Trade product
Ability to learn new products and related risk profiles where gaps may exist across the wide Trade product spectrum
Knowledge of relevant accounting guidance for off-balance sheet trade financings
- Experience with structuring and negotiating complex transactions
Ability to partner closely with functional partners including product risk, finance and legal
- Knowledge of Risk Management policies and procedures
