Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.


Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.


We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2019 and beyond, we are currently seeking an experienced Global Head of Strategy, Planning and Operations to join HSBC Technology.

What you will be doing;
  • Implement and maintain an appropriate and effective strategy governance framework, aligned to the CMB IT framework.

  • Provide input to strategy, direction, development and management as a member of the CMB Digital IT Management Committee.

  • Provide direct strategic and administrative support to the Head of CMB Digital IT.

  • Design, maintain and implement the annual plan for the Head of CMB Digital IT. This includes core meeting cadence, off sites, town halls, travel agendas, ensuring full stakeholder coverage.

  • Manage internal governance for CMB Digital IT, this includes providing a secretariat role for ExCo / Leadership Meetings as well we providing responsive, cohesive and strategic support for ad-hoc requests.

  • Continually challenge the organisational design to ensure it is as simple, effective and efficient as possible.

  • Manage submissions and briefing notes for the various HSBC meetings that the Head of CMB Digital attends. This includes end to end coordination, challenging the content for appropriateness and quality, securing approvals and managing to the point of submission.

  • Lead the direction, management and oversight of Business Management activities across all CMB Digital IT Services.

  • Oversee Finance, Management Information Systems and Planning resources assigned to CMB Digital IT to ensure high quality support, and improved decision making, productivity and execution for service owners.

  • Partner with Finance to deliver on budget, meeting stretch targets through comprehensive understanding of cost base drivers.
