Head of Discipline – Electrical Engineering

Would you like to join our team of world class engineers developing the latest and greatest technology for our Naval ships sector? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Manager to join the team at our site in either Glasgow or Bristol.
As a Head of Discipline – Electrical Engineering, you will be supporting all programs across naval ships – providing technical support and expertise anddeveloping others within the discipline to ensure that there is a success plan for future electrical engineers in the required areas of expertise
This is a key senior appointment with an opportunity to develop Electrical Engineering and engage with a range of stakeholders across the Naval Ships and wider Maritime business.You’ll bring your existing managerial experience and discipline knowledge to support some of the largest defence programmes in the UK today.
Your main responsibilities as a Head of Discipline – Electrical Engineering will involve:
Provide visible presence and career leadership to the Naval Ships Electrical Engineering discipline population, promoting continuous development and maintenance of Professional standards
Accountable for defining the Discipline Strategy for Electrical Engineering, future skill requirements and overall capacity projections
Promote the continual growth and development of the discipline capability by sponsoring Development and Talent moves in accordance with opportunities across programs
Engineering Governance activities
Responsible for interfacing with Universities, Engineering Institutes, education bodies and other key suppliers of engineering capability and developing technologies relevant to the Discipline.Sponsor the publication of Technical Papers in appropriate Conferences or Proceedings
Your skills and qualifications:
Experience as a senior leader/subject expert in electrical engineering on projects of a complex nature and knowledge of the engineering lifecycle from conception to commission
Qualified electrical engineer with degree qualification or chartered engineer status
Experience of electrical systems in a marine environment preferred
Led a change project or business improvement initiative
Experience of bid /business winning approval process
An understanding and experience in the use of the tools used to perform power system modelling
